Ethiopia has a population of 94 million people, with nearly 780,000 refugees. There are 25 refugee camps in Ethiopia.

The country has dealt with drought and famine as well as war and conflict for most of its existence. Many of the African refugees entering the United States today are Ethiopian.




Ethiopia always has a special place in my imagination and the prospect of visiting Ethiopia attracted me more strongly than a trip to France, England, and America combined. I felt I would be visiting my own genesis, unearthing the roots of what made me an African.
